About Me
Alena Joy Adler began performing at a young age: born into an artistic family near
Atlantic City, at age three she began memorizing all the lines from her favorite Disney
films. As she grew and aged, she immersed herself in many art forms including music,
dance, writing, photography and filmmaking. (She also served well as the "family
clown.") She loved arriving at dinner, or surprising guests dressed in costume, or with
props. One could say she was born for the stage!
Her innate talent for memorization in concert with her remarkable ability to retain the
contents of a script combine to prepare her well for many one-woman shows, as well as
ensembles. No doubt her claims, that all those memory games of concentration as a
child, forged this ability and serve her well as an actress.
She followed her father into his filmmaking studios as a young child; the age of seven,
under his tutelage, she began writing, directing and narrating her own stop-action short
films. Also, Alena writes songs spontaneously, with both melody and lyrics in the
moment. She's quite the creative thinker: she enjoys co-creating with others, whether
on a song, a play, movie or comedy improv.
Although not reflected on her resume, the Creative Director at her elementary school
spotted her talent early, and she was offered a lead in her first play as an angel. She
was the only child chosen in a holiday production for the eighth graders. Hence, from
an early age it seems others always noticed her charisma, and Destiny began its Siren
call.
As a result of her early foundation in the arts, Alena felt blessed to attend a high school
of the performing arts where she soared, and ended up as lead in the final plays of both
her Junior and Senior years. She was honored to be named prom queen of her Senior
Ball, and in one week created a one-woman play for her final project, the same week as
prom.
She received a B.A. from the prestigious SUNY Purchase acting program, with a minor
in arts management. It was there that she continued to hone her skills that were realized
and crafted during her high school years.
After college graduation, she felt there was only one place for her to be—-New York
City. She moved to The Big Apple, where opportunity awaited. She was discovered
outside in New York City, as she fundraised for Children’s International. (A French
director, Michel Pascal), was looking for a special lead actress for his play about
Thérèse of Lisieux. He met Alena, and was so moved by her grace, humor an innate
spiritual presence, that he hired her on the spot.
She memorized her lines in eight days for this one-woman play: thus began her work
acting in the Director's off-broadway production, as well as the play's national touring
company. Upon her return, Alena trained at the Upright Citizens' Brigade, strengthening
her comedy chops following immersion in plays and short dramatic movie roles.
Currently, Alena is making the most of her 20s: writing; taking more classes and
working toward gigs and appearances in the many series movie parts that long have
filled her professional dreams.
Alena has a deep humanitarian side, and takes great joy in helping to make the world a
better place by landscaping, writing and educating others about issues that are
important to her, as well as being in Nature—and laughing! She has worked tirelessly
for non-profits that provide education, water and food to underprivileged children in
Third World countries.
She's also done fundraising for the ASPCA, developing her own training program which
she has used to train hundreds of other young creatives to do the same. As part of
Children’s International, she has traveled the world, leading by example and as a
Teacher. Since COVID has curtailed world travel and the admittance to many
countries, Alena has returned to her music; to writing and taking stock of her life.
This Pandemic-enforced introspection has firmed her commitment to the arts. She
embraces that, by being true to her own artistic nature—she'll have a platform to make
people happy, and heal them in a unique and special way—and thus, leaving this world
a better place then she found it.
